THE PEARSON TEST OF ACADEMIC ENGLISH

PTE Academic is a computer-based academic English language test designed for non-native English speakers interested in studying abroad. It assesses reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

Questions frequently combine two abilities, such as listening and reading or reading and speaking. The entire exam is completed in a single 3-hour session while sitting at a computer in a secure testing environment. The speaking portion of the exam is completed on a computer. Your voice is captured and forwarded for evaluation.

One advantage of this test is that the findings are available in about 5 days.

THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN IELTS AND PTE

  • The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a standardised test that is administered jointly by the British Council, Cambridge English Language Assessment, and IDP Education. The exam was created in 1989 to assess and certify non-native English speakers' competency.
  • Pearson established the Pearson Test of English (PTE) in 2009, making it one of the most recent entrants into the industry of testing and certifying non-native English speakers' English language skills. The PTE is accredited by the QCA, which is managed in collaboration with Edexcel, the UK's largest examining organisation

TEST VERSIONS

  • Both IELTS and PTE have two common versions: Academic and General Training and PTE has one additional version viz. Young Learners Test.
